Here is a gorgeous and rare, fully original LeCoultre Master Mariner from 1959. The silver dial is in very fine condition, with golden sword style hour markers with lume stripes at the outer ends and Arabic numerals at 6 and 12 o’clock. The dial has a gilt minute track and crosshair. There are a few marks around the dial such as at around the 6 o’clock hour marker and some of the lume has disintegrated. The golden sword hands are in fine condition with the original lume intact albeit degraded.

The solid 14K gold case with wonderfully elegant lugs is in fine condition with some wear throughout, both at the the face and the sides. The solid 14K gold case back is in fine condition with some overall wear. It carries an inscription showing the watch was originally offered as a work award. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.

The watch comes on an after market leather strap and buckle of good quality.

Inside the watch, LeCoultre’s high grade caliber 476/3 bumper automatic, their first automatic movement, beats strongly and accurately to within about +15 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in December 2025 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.

This is an amazing watch to wear with its wonderful design and great condition. The large size for a 1959 watch makes it sit very nicely on the wrist and it will make you “check the time” a bit more often than actually needed.
