Here is a fabulous, all original King Seiko 56KS Hi-Beat from 1971. The blue sunburst dial is in very fine condition, with steel Seiko and KS logos and faceted black polished steel hour markers, a wider marker at 12 o’clock. There are a few tiny marks scattered around the dial, none of which are really visible to the naked eye. The faceted tapered baton hands are in fine condition, with some corrosion visible under magnification, most notably on the minute hand. The hack stops the seconds hand when the crown is pulled out to set the time, so the time can be set more accurately. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock displays the quick-set date and weekday in Kanji and English. The quick-set should only be done with the hour hand at the bottom half of the dial.

The stainless steel bezel is in very fine condition with only light overall wear. The large cushion shaped case with the original KS crown and long faceted lugs is in very fine condition with only light overall wear both on the sides and at the lugs. The stainless steel case back is in fine condition, with a slightly tarnished gold KS medallion and light overall wear. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.

The original stainless steel bracelet is in very fine condition with just a few marks on some of the links and on the double fold clasp, with only light stretching. It is large enough for moderately big wrists. Make sure the specific bracelet size listed in the details is not too small for your wrist as finding spare links for old bracelets is very difficult. The bracelet can be shortened by up to about 2cm simply by moving a spring bar in the clasp.

Inside the watch, Seiko’s high grade, Hi-Beat 5626A movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-10 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in March 2025 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
