IWC Caliber 89 VWS-1031

Here is a wonderful, all original IWC caliber 89 from 1971. The silver dial is in very fine condition, with a steel IWC logo with the script logo underneath. It has steel strip hour markers with black contrast, double at 12 o’clock. There is some wear around the edge of the dial, especially noticeable around 12 to 2 o’clock, as well as around the 4 o’clock marker. Some of the hour markers show some slight wear and the “I” in “Swiss” is also worn. The steel baton hands are in fine condition, with the original black contrast, showing some wear, in particular on the seconds hand.

The wide stainless steel bezel is in fine condition with light overall wear, most notable around 7 o’clock. The stainless steel C shape case with the original fish crown and short lugs is in very fine condition, with a radially brushed face and brushed sides and sharp angles between them. It shows only light wear, mostly at the lugs. The stainless steel case back is in fair condition, with a radially brushed center showing some overall wear.

The aftermarket steel bracelet is in very fine condition and looks fabulous with the watch. It is large enough for moderately big wrists.

Inside the watch, one of the most legendary watch movements ever made, the IWC caliber 89, beats strongly and accurately to within about +12 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in September 2020 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.

Caliber 89 has a special ring to watch lovers, and the classic design of this late version of the movement makes this a very versatile watch. It’s a watch that goes well with any occasion and is also a great daily driver.
