Here is a fabulous, all original Grand Seiko GS61 Hi-Beat from 1969. The silver sunburst dial is in very fine condition, with steel Seiko and GS logos and faceted steel block hour markers, double at 12 o’clock. There are a couple of discolored spots around the 6 and 10 o’clock hour markers. The faceted dauphine hands with central black stripes are in very fine condition, with the characteristic seconds hand for this model without a center hole. When the crown is pulled out to set time, the hack stops the seconds hand for more accurate time setting. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock shows the quick-set date. The quick-set function should only be used with the hour hand at the bottom half of the dial.

The stainless steel bezel is in very fine condition with only light overall wear. The large angular stainless steel case with integrated lugs and the original GS crown has a brushed face and polished sides and is in excellent condition with only light overall wear. The stainless steel case back has a well preserved GS medallion and is in very fine condition with just a few marks. The case has been refinished.

The watch comes on the original Seiko strap and GS buckle in fine condition.

Inside the watch, Seiko’s high grade 6145A movement beats strongly and accurately at the then insane rate of 36000 beats per hour, keeping time to within about +-8 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in February 2026 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
