Here is a wonderful, all original Grand Seiko GS61 Hi-Beat from 1967. The silver sunburst dial is in fine condition, with steel Seiko and GS logos and faceted steel bar hour markers, double at 12 o’clock. There is a discolored spot around the GS logo and a few other tiny spots scattered around the dial. The faceted dauphine hands are in fine condition, with the characteristic seconds hand for this model without a center hole. When the crown is pulled out to set time, the hack stops the seconds hand for more accurate time setting. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock shows the quick-set date. The quick-set function should only be used with the hour hand at the bottom half of the dial.

The stainless steel bezel is in fine condition with light overall wear. The large angular stainless steel case with integrated lugs and the original GS crown has a brushed face and polished sides and is in very fine condition with light overall wear, perhaps most notable a few marks along the bottom edge on the left case side. The stainless steel case back has a well preserved gold GS medallion and is in very fine condition with just a few marks.

The watch comes on an after market stainless steel bracelet of good quality.

Inside the watch, Seiko’s high grade 6145A movement beats strongly and accurately at the then insane rate of 36000 beats per hour, keeping time to within about +-8 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in May 2025 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
