Here is a stunning, all original Grand Seiko GS57 from 1967. The silver sunburst dial is in very fine condition, with steel Seiko and GS logos and faceted steel bar hour markers, double at 12 o’clock. There are a few tiny marks just above the center of the dial towards the Seiko logo. These are not really visible the naked eye. The faceted steel dauphine hands are in fine condition with some small marks visible upon close inspection. The hack stops the seconds hand when the crown is pulled out to set the time, so the time can be set more accurately. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock displays the quick-set date. The quick-set function should only be used with the hour hand at the bottom half of the dial.

The stainless steel bezel is in fine condition with only light overall wear. The stainless steel case with the original crown and heavy, angular lugs is in fine condition with some overall wear, perhaps most prominent on the upper left case side. The stainless steel case back is in fine condition, with a well preserved gold GS medallion and a few marks. The case does not appear to ever have been polished.

The watch comes on an after market leather strap and buckle of good quality.

Inside the watch, Seiko’s fabulous 5722B movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-8 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in December 2024 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.

This GS57 is a real beauty, with its large size and very fine condition. This is a watch that not only adds to any vintage collection but is also great as a daily driver.
